My long-term research goals are: to clarify detailed associations of active, sedentary, and sleeping behaviors (their pattern and quality), and fitness levels with health, diseases, and socioeconomic outcomes among general and diseased populations by applying epidemiological research designs such as a cohort study; to develop effective health promotion programs based on observational studies; to test the programs using a randomized-controlled trial; to disseminate the programs to various communities; and to ultimately promote population health. I am also interested in developing better methods for objectively measuring lifestyle behaviors that may help identify novel disease risk factors and motivate people to become healthier.
